(I think) The Bible says, “…let them go, and if they come back to you, then it is meant to be…” or, something like that. Well, in Malolos City, Bulacan, Philippines, we got to see that sentiment play out in real life.
There is no bigger honor (especially in politics) than seeing the people truly love their Mayor.
When Malolos City “lost” Mayor Christian Natividad; though, for just one term, you could feel the lull, the dip in energy, and the loss of community morale. But, in the last election, just a few weeks ago, he won his re-election, and –HE IS BACK!
The energy in Bulacan now, is like a High School Pep Rally, with everyone roaring in applause, full of smiles, and looking favorably to the future.
A little back story…
We have met and featured Mayor ‘Chris’ numerous times, but we did so from afar, and with a personal angle –we had never met him in the capital.
Mayor Chris was a consistent and glowing backdrop for our national tourism, community development, investment, and lifestyle features in The Philippines Magazine International. We were honored to meet Mayor Chris, at his home, when we first started doing our R&D for our Philippines provincial lifestyle, limited special editions –before covid.
We had met “The People’s Mayor” from personal invitations (to get the ‘real’ story), and we have seen him over the years, both before and after Covid, meeting with ‘the people’ whether in the streets of Malolos City, at his personal home, or out in the community.
We learned a long time ago that if you want to meet Mayor Chris, you need to go where the people are.
Most recently, we were invited to the Malolos City, Woodlands of Grand Royal Home Owner’s Association Officer Induction Event. And, once again, we saw Mayor Chris in action, with the people, where he shines.
