WOMEN

DESNUDO AN ART EXHIBIT BY Michaela Pfeiffer

Definition: Spanish; The art of being nude, bare, or naked. With indications that it may transcend the physical ‘nude’ and translate also into naked venerability, and in some aspects also mean to define feeling safe, and able to let down your guard and show your most-venerable self.

Kareem Jackson:

Hello Michaela Pfeiffer…Welcome, you look amazing, thanks so much for being here.

Michaela Pfeiffer:

Thank you as well, Kareem. I am so excited to talk to you. I’ve been looking forward to meeting you. And I am so excited! This will be my first ‘solo’ art exhibit.

Kareem Jackson:

Yes! Desnudo! I got a sneak peek, at “The Desnudo Collection” and it is beautiful. You are truly making a name for yourself.

Michaela Pfeiffer:

Thank you, Kareem. In my first solo art exhibition, I’m presenting my collection of nude paintings. I wanted to start real, raw, and vulnerable.

Kareem Jackson:

Wow. I love it. I had no idea. It’s you expressing how you see yourself.

Michaela Pfeiffer:

Yes, Kareem…I am stripping myself, baring my soul, flaunting curves not to seduce nor to show off but to show the world that; though I’m still insecure, I’ve learned to accept and love my imperfect self.

Kareem Jackson:

You are gorgeous, talented, and a socialite, so where does the insecurity come from? I know many young ladies who look up to you, as one of their role models, your philanthropic efforts have touched thousands of people’s lives, from manila to the black Filipino Aetas in Pampanga, and you’re an inspiration.

Michaela Pfeiffer:

Thank you. It is an honor to help. I know how it feels to feel ‘less than’. Growing up as the middle child, I was never a ‘favorite’. I never felt my mother’s love and embrace.

Kareem Jackson:

I am sorry to hear that. That is why you are such an inspiration to others, even to myself. You overcame all of that, to -obviously- create a successful and happy life for yourself. I am sorry that you had to experience that in your childhood.

Michaela Pfeiffer:

Thank you, but it’s ok, I know my father is very proud of me. As I turned into a teen, I noticed my older sister’s hips and bosoms. She also had a long line of suitors. While she has everything, I see that I have nothing.

Kareem Jackson:

Oh wow. Mental health, esteem, and insecurity are all real for young women, as well as men. I was insecure about my blackness, and my lifestyle, I was also a super skinny and tall kid, with glasses. But, I think it makes us stronger Michaela, it makes us develop in other ways.

Michaela Pfeiffer:

That’s right, Kareem. As I got older -and wiser, I now know that I’m brilliant, talented and, some say, a little bit cute. (Haha) A lot of times I still feel that I’m not enough, that I am still, less than as well.

Kareem Jackson:

I would never think that from you in front of me. You exude confidence, Michaela. You are the epitome of a strong female, boss lady, entrepreneur, and now artista! When, or how, did you realize that you were –enough?

Michaela Pfeiffer:

Oh, during covid-19, lockdown. When the pandemic hit, I reflected and dug deep into my soul, and I learned that I was too hard on myself. I also, realized that no one can truly love me except for myself. So today, I stand before you a new and empowered woman, not afraid for you, or anyone, to see my naked self!

Kareem Jackson:

Yeeeees! I love it, Michaela! The symbolism, of the freedom, confidence, and real-life confidence that being able to show up as you are, the way that God brought us into this world. No pump, nor circumstance, just naked!

Michaela Pfeiffer:

Yes, it is a very freeing experience. You should try it sometime, Kareem. (haha) I want to tell you that I now, love myself, and I’m proud of myself. I no longer seek attention, nor the approval from anyone, anymore.

”I am –finally- proud happy and contented with myself.” – Michaela Pfeiffer
